INLAND LANDSCAPES

Inland and mountain landscapes have one or more mountains. A mountain is a high landform with a peak and have three parts: peak, slope and foot. 

Spanish: Los paisajes de interior o de montaña tienen una o más montañas. Una montaña es una gran porción de relieve con un pico o cima y tiene tres partes: pico o cima, ladera o falda y pie.

We can divide the mountain into three parts (tiene tres partes)

• Peak/Summit: the top of a mountain. (pico/cima: la parte superior de la montaña).
• Slope: is the side of the mountain (Ladera: el lado de la montaña).
• Foot: is the bottom of a mountain (Pie: la parte inferior de la montaña).

In addition, in an inland or mountain landscape you can find:

- Mountain range: several mountains in a line. (cordillera: muchas montañas en línea).

- Hill: a small mountain (Colina: una montaña pequeña).

- Valley: is low land between mountains and hills. There's usually a river ( Valle: es una tierra baja situada entre montañas y colinas. Normalmente suele haber un río allí).

- Ravine: is a narrow steep valley. (Barranco/desfiladero/garganta:  es un valle estrecho y escarpado).

Plain: is a large area of low, flat land. (Llanura: es una área extensa de tierra baja y plana).
