PART OF A PLANT

Basic plant facts. (Características básicas de las plantas).
- They are living things. (Son seres vivos).
- They are born, grow, reproduce and die. (Nacen, crecen, se reproducen y mueren).
- They need water, minerals, air and sunlight. (Necesitan agua, minerales, aire y luz solar).
- They make their own food. (Fabrican su propia comida).
- They can't move around. ( No pueden desplazarse).
- They can move one or more their parts. (Pueden mover una o más de sus partes).

All plants have roots, stem and leaves. (Todas las plantas tienen raíces, tallos y hojas).

ROOTS/RAÍCES

The roots of a plant grow in the ground. (Las raíces de una planta crecen en el suelo).

Carrots plants have a thick root. (Las zanahorias tienen una raíz gruesa).

Onion plants have a hairy roots. (Las cebollas tienen raíces peludas).

STEM/TALLO

The stem grows above the ground. Branches grow off the stem. (El tallo crece por encima del suelo. Las ramas crecen del tallo).

An oak tree has woody stem. (Un roble tiene un tallo leñoso).

Wheat has a green stem (el trigo tiene el tallo verde).

LEAVES/HOJAS

Leaves are attached to the branches or the stem. They have different shapes and edges. (Las hojas se encentran unidas a las ramas o el tallo. Tienen diferentes formas y bordes).
