ENDANGERED BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity is the number and variety of the life forms that exist or have existed on Earth. Human activity is causing to the plants that are resulting in the extinction of many species and endangerung biodiversity. There are five major threats on the planet that are the reason for this loss of biodiversity.

SPANISH: La biodiversidad es la cantidad y variedad de formas de vida que existen o han existido en la Tierra. La actividad humana está causando al planeta la extinción de muchas especies y poniendo en peligro la biodiversidad. Hay cinco amenazas principales en el planeta que son la razón de esta pérdida de biodiversidad.

Loss of habitats

Human needs have an important impact on the natural environment. For example, when we build a new road through a natural area, many animals are killed by cars when they are crossing the road.

SPANISH: Las necesidades humanas tienen un impacto importante en el medio ambiente. Por ejemplo, cuando construimos una nueva carretera a través de un área natural, muchos animales mueren cuando los cochescuando cruzan la carretera.

Invasive species

The introduction of the new species can unbalance a habitant. These new animals or plants can act as predators, transmit diseases or compete for food with local species.

SPANISH: La introducción de nuevas especies puede desequilibrar un hábitat. Estos nuevos animales o plantas pueden actuar como depredadores, transmitir enfermedades o competir por el alimento con especies locales.

Pollution

Human domestic agricultural and industrial activities generate large quantities of waste which contaminate the biosphere. Water is indispensable for life, but it is also extensively contaminated by waste.

SPANISH: Las actividades agrícolas e industriales humanas generan grandes cantidades de desechos que contaminan la biosfera. El agua es indispensable para la vida, pero también está ampliamente contaminada por los desechos.

Overexplotation of species

This happens when we use natural resource faster that it can regenerate. Overexplotation applies to hunting, fishing and cutting down trees for wood.

SPANISH: Esto sucede cuando usamos los recursos naturales más rápido de lo que puede regenerarse. La sobreexplotación se aplica a la caza, la pesca y la tala de árboles para obtener madera.

Climate change

Climate change is making the temperature rise on the plantet. It affects different species of plants and animals because it endangers their natural environment.

SPANISH: El cambio climático está haciendo que la temperatura aumente en todo el planeta. Esto affecta a diferentes especies de plantas y animales debido a que pone en peligro su hábitat natural.
