RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

Oxygen enters our blood through the respiratory system when we breathe in. Then, the carbon dioxide we don't need leaves our body when we breathe out. The respiratory system is made up the nostrils, the windpipe, the bronchi and the lungs.

SPANISH: El oxígeno entra por nuestra sangre a través del sistema respiratorio cuando nosotros respiramos. Después, el dióxido de carbono que no necesitamos abandona nuestro cuerpo al espirar. El sistema respiratorio está compuesto por las fosas nasales, la tráquea, los bronquios y los pulmones.

The nose has two holes called nostrils where the air enters our body. The nose warms the air. The hairs in the nostrils clean it.

SPANISH: La nariz tiene dos agujeros llamados fosas nasales donde el aire entra por nuestro cuerpo. La nariz calienta el are. El pelo de las fosas nasales lo limpia.

Nostrills

The windpipe is a tube that divides into two smaller tubes called bronchi. The air goes down the bronchi into the two lungs.

SPANISH: La tráquea es un tubo que se divide en dos tubos pequeños llamados bronquios. El aire va desde los bronquios a los pulmones.

Windpipe, bronchi and lungs

The lungs are two sacks that are protected by our ribs. They are made up of lots of little sacks. The air goes into these little sacks. The oxygen passes from the air into the blood and the carbon dioxide pases from the blood into the air. Then, the carbon dioxide leaves our body when we breathe out.

SPANISH: Los pulmones son dos sacos que están protegidos por nuestras vértebras. Están hechos de muchos sacos pequeños. El aire se dirige a estos pequeños sacos. El oxígeno pasa del aire a la sangre y el dióxido de carbono pasa de la sangre al aire. Luego, el dióxido de carbono abandona nuestro cuerpo cuando espiramos.
