How can we describe a mountain landscape?
There are different words for the types of landforms we can see.
Mountains are a type of landform and are found in a mountain landscape. They have:
Peak or Summit: the highest part.
Foot: the lowest part.
Slopes: the sides from top to bottom.
What different types of mountain landforms are there?
A group of mountains together is called a mountain range. Several mountain ranges are called a mountain system. Other landforms in a mountain landscape include:

• Hills. These are smaller than mountains. They are sometimes rounded in shape.
• a Massif. This is a group of mountains that are compacted together. This means they make one solid shape with several peaks.
What other types of landscapes are there?
• Plains are large areas of flat land. Crops grow on plains that are close to a river. We call these fertile plains. There can be differences in the elevation of flat land.
• A valley is low or flat land between two mountains or hills.
• A plateau is a high area of flat land. It is higher than the land around it.
• A gorge is a very narrow valley with rocky walls and a river at the bottom.
