LIVING IN A CITY
Most people in Spain live in cities or towns. Cities and towns have different zones. An zone is an area of a city or town with its own characteristics.
SPANISH: La mayoría de las personas en España viven en ciudades o pueblos. Las ciudades y los pueblos tienen zonas diferentes. Una zona es un área de una ciudad y pueblo que tiene sus propias características.
CITY CENTRE/CENTRO DE LA CIUDAD
The city centre or town centre is usually the oldest zone. It has the main square and the town hall or city hall. The buildings aren's very tall and the streets are often narrow. There are usually historical building there, as well as offices, museums, theatres and cinemas. There isn't usually a lot of space.
SPANISH: El centro de la ciudad o el pueblo es por lo general la zona más antigua. Tiene la plaza principal y el ayuntamiento. Los edificios no son muy altos y las calles son a menudo estrechas. Normalmente encontramos edificios históricos, tanto como oficinas, museos, teatros y cines. Normalmente no hay mucho espacio.

MODERN ZONES/ZONAS MODERNAS
When the number of inhabitants increases, new and more modern zones are built. These areas often have tall blocks of flats with communal gardens, and modern office buildings. The streets are wider. There are hospitals, shops and schools. Sometimes there are cinemas too.
SPANISH: Cuando el número de habitantes se incrementa, se construyen nuevas y más zonas modernas. Estas áreas tienen a menudo bloques de pisos con jardines comunes y oficinas modernas. Las calles son más anchas. Hay hospitales, tiendas y colegios. Algunas veces hay cines también.

OUTSKIRTS/AFUERAS DE LA CIUDAD O SUBURBIOS
On the outskirts of a city or town, there is usually a lot of space. There are factories, large supermarkets and shopping centres there, and sometimes an airport. This is where zoos and theme parks can be found too.
SPANISH: En las afueras de una ciudad o pueblo, normalmente hay mucho mucho espacio. Hay fábricas, grandes supermercados y centros comerciales, y algunas veces un aeropuerto. También podemos encontrar zoológicos y parques de atracciones.
