INVENTIONS: THE PRINTING PRESS
The earliest writers used a tool such as a knife to write on clay tablets. Later, people wrote with a pen on papyrus (made from a river plant) or on parchment (made from animal skins). Much later they began to use paper. It took people a long time to write books so books were very expensive.
SPANISH: Los primeros escritores utilizaban herramientas como cuchillos para escribir en tablas de arcilla. Más tarde, las personas escribían con un lápiz en un papiro (hecho de una planta de río) o en un pergamino. Mucho más tarde empezaron a utilizar el papel. Las personas invertía mucho tiempo en escribir libros, por eso, en aquellos tiempos, eran muy caros.

Then, in a town in Germany around 1450... A man called Johannes Guttenberg watched some men making books. He made some letters. He used the letters to make words and covered them in ink. He used the machine to press the words into pieces of paper. He invented the printing press!!
SPANISH: Luego, en un pueblo de Alemania alrededor del año 1450... un hombre llamado Johannes Guttenberg observó a algunos hombres fabricando libros. Él hizo algunas letras. Utilizó las letras para crear palabras y las cubrió con tinta. Utilizó la máquina para imprimir las palabras en piezas de papel. ¡ Inventó la imprenta!

The invention of the printing press meant that many books could be made at the same time. Also, the letters could be used again and again to print different books.
Later, printing press became mechanised and more efficent. More and more people began to read books about different subjects. It was an information revolution.
SPANISH: La invención de la imprenta significó que muchos libros podía ser fabricados al mismo tiempo. También, las letras podían ser usadas una y otra vez para imprimir diferentes libros.
Más tarde, la imprenta se mecanizó y fue más eficiente. Más y más personas empezaron a leer libros sobre diferentes áreas. Fue una revolución de la información.

We still read books and newspaper made by printing press but the process is very different.
SPANISH: Todavía leemos libros y periódicos hechos con la imprenta o impresora pero el proceso es muy diferente.
We also read electronic books. We can have our own personal libraries inside a small computer the size of one book!
SPANISH: También podemos leer libros electrónicos. ¡Podemos tener nuestra propia librería persona dentro de un pequeño ordenador del tamaño de un libro!
