TOURISM

When people travel for pleasure it's called tourism. Tourism is Spain's most important tertiary sector industry. It employs hundreds of thousands of people. Spain in an important tourist destination because of its climate and varied landscape.

SPANISH: Cuando las personas viajan por placer se llama turismo. El turismo es la industria del sector terciario más importante en España. Mantiene a cientos de miles de personas. España es un destino turístico importante debido a su variado clima y relieve.

Beach tourism is the most popular type of tourism in Spain. It's popular with Spanish people and from people from northern Europe.

SPANISH: El turismo de playa es el tipo de turismo más popular en España. Es popular entre los españoles y las personas del norte de Europa.

CULTURAL TOURISM (TURISMO CULTURAL)

Some people like to visit cities, historical buildings and places where important things happened in history. This is called cultural tourism.

SPANISH: Algunas personas le gustan visitar ciudades, edificios históricos y lugares dónde cosas históricas tuvieron lugar. Esto se llama turismo cultural.

RURAL TOURISM (TURISMO RURAL)

Some people like to visit the countryside. This is called rural tourism. People can do winter sports such as skiing or go on walking holidays. The most famous place for walking is the Camino de Santiago. Tourists come from all over the world to walk this route.

SPANISH: Algunas personas le gustan visitar el paisaje. Esto se llama turismo rural. Las personas pueden practicar deportes de invierno como el esquí o hacer senderismo. El lugar más famoso para hacer senderismo es el Camino de Santiago. Los turistas vienen de todo el mundo para hacer esta ruta.
