FUNGI/HONGOS

Fungi share these characteristics.

SPANISH: Los hongos comparten las siguientes características:

• They feed on other living things. Se alimentan de otros seres vicos.

• They cannot move about. No pueden desplazarse.

• Some fungi can be seen with the naked eye, for example mushrooms. Other fungi are so small that you need a microscope to observe them.  Algunos puede verse a simple vista, por ejemplo la setas. Otros hongos son tan pequeños que necesitas un microscopio para verlos.

There are different types of fungi. These are the main types:

SPANISH: Hay diferentes tipos de hongos. Estos son los principales:

Mushrooms: these are the visible part of a fungus. The hidden part is made up of a web of tiny filaments that spread underground to absorb food. The mushrooms grows from these filaments  whren the fungus is going to reproduce.

SPANISH: Setas: son la parte visible del hongo. La parque que está escondida está hecha de una red de pequeños filamentos extendida bajo tierra para absorber comida. Las setas crecen de estos filamentos cuando un hongo va a reproducirse.

Yeast: you can only see them with a microscope. They are used to make bread, wine o beer.

SPANISH: Levadura: pueden verse con el microscopio. Pueden usarse para hacer pan, vino o cerveza.

Moulds: these grow on some types of decaying food.

SPANISH: Moho. Crece en algunos tupos de comida descompuesta.
