LANDSCAPES IN SPAIN

Natural features, such as the relief, type of vegetation and water features, are different in defferent parts of Spain. Human activity also varies depending on the part of the country.

SPANISH: Las características naturales, como el relieve, el tipo de vegetación y el agua, son diferentes en varios sitios de España. La actividad humana también varia dependiendo de la zona del país.

INLAND LANDSCAPES/PAISAJES DE INTERIOR

Natural features. Typical inland landscapes in Spain are the plains of the Inned Plateau and the low and of the Ebro river basin. The temperatures are very cold in winter and very hot in summer. It doesn't rain much.

SPANISH: Características naturales. Los paisajes naturales típicos son las llanuras de la Meseta Central y la cuenca baja del río Ebro. Las temperaturas son muy frías en invierno y muy calurosas en verano. No llueve mucho.

Human activity. These landscapes are transformed by farming. There are villages between farm fields. There are also large towns like Madrid, Valladolid and Zaragoza.

SPANISH: Actividad humana. Estos paisajes son transformados por la agricultura. Hay pueblos entre los campos de agricultura. Hay también grandes ciudades como Madrid, Valladolid y Zaragoza.

MEDITERRANEAN LANDSCAPES/PAISAJES MEDITERRÁNEO

Natural features. Typical Mediterranean landscapes are the low coastal plains and the Gaudalquivir river basin. There are wide beaches and cliffs on the coast. Temperatures are mild in summer. It rains very little. In summer there is drought.

SPANISH: Características naturales. Los paisajes mediterráneos típicos se encuentran en la baja llanura del Guadalquivir. Hay grandes y anchas playas y acantilados en la costa. Las temperaturas son cálidas en verano. Llueve muy poco. En verano hay sequía.

Human activity. These landscapes are transformed by farming, industry and tourism. Most people live on the coast and work in tourism.

SPANISH: Actividad humana. Estos paisajes son transformados por la agricultura, la industria y el turismo. La mayoría de las personas viven en la costa y trabajan en el turismo.

LANDSCAPES OF THE ATLANTIC COAST/PAISAJES DE LA COSTA ATLÁNTICA.

Natural features. Typical Atlantic landscapes include mountains and valleys, as well as high rockt cliffs. Vegetation is mainly fields and forest. It rains a lot.

SPANISH: Características naturales. El paisaje atlántico típico incluye montañas y valle, a ala vez que grandes acantilados rocosos. La vegetación es principalmente boscosa. Llueve mucho.

Human activity. There are oak and beech trees in the original forests, but people plant eucalyptus and pine trees for their wood. There are many fields for animals. The villages are small and isolated. The large cities have a lot of industries.

SPANISH: Actividad humana. Hay robles y hayas en los bosques, pero la gente planta eucaliptos y pinos para obtener madera. Hay mucho terreno para animales. Los pueblos son pequeños y aislados. Las grandes ciudades tienen muchas industrias.

LANDSCAPES OF THE CANARY ISLAND/PAISAJE DE LAS ISLAS CANARIAS.

Natural features. Typical landscapes of the Canaries are volcanic peaks. The islands to the west have higher mountains. The Canary Islands have mild temperatures all year round.

SPANISH: Características naturales. El paisaje típico de las Islas Canarias es volcánico . Las islas del oeste tienen grandes montañas. Las Islas Canarias tienen temperaturas cálidas todo el año.

Human Activity.The original landscapes are very changed. There are terraces built in the mountain slopes to grow crops. However, the landscapes are mainly transformed by tourism.

SPANISH: Los paisajes están muy cambiados. Hay terrazas construidas en las laderas de la montaña para cultivar. Sin embargo, los paisajes son principalmente transformados por el turismo.
