A watershed is an area of land where all the main rivers flow into the same area.

The three main watersheds in Spain are the Cantabrian, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean watersheds.

The Cantabrian watershed/La vertiente cantábrica.
The Cantabrian watershed is in the north of Spain. It is the smallest watershed. All the rivers flow into the Cantabrian Sea. The main rivers are the Navia, the Nalón and the Eo.
SPANISH: La vertiente cantábrica está en el norte de España. Es la vertiente más pequeña. Todods los ríos desembocan en el Mar Cantábrico. Los principales ríos son el Navia, el Nalón y el Eo.

The Atlantic watershed/La vertiente atlántica.
The Atlantic watershed is the largest in Spain. All the rivers flow into the Atlantic Ocean.
SPANISH: La vertiente Atlántica es la mayor de España. Todos los ríos desembocan en el Océano Atlántico.
The main rivers are:
The Miño. Its source is in the Galician Massif. Its main tributary is the Sil.
SPANISH: El Miño. Su nacimiento se encuentra en el Macizo Galaico. Su principal afuelnte es el Sil.

The Duero. Its source is in the Iberian Mountain Chain. Its main tributaries are the Pisuerga, the Elsa and the Tormes.

The Tajo. Its source is in the Iberian Mountain Chain. Its main tributaries are the Jarama and the Alagón.

The Guadalquivir. Its source is in the Subbetic Range. Its main tributary is the Genil.

The main rivers are the Júcar, the Segura and the Ebro.

The Ebro is the longest river in the Mediterranean watershed. Its source is in the Cantabrian Range. Its upper course flows through areas where it rains and snows a lot. For this reason it has the most abundant flow regime in Spain.
SPANISH: El Ebro es el río más largo de la vertiente mediterránea. Su nacimiento está en la Cordillera Cantábrica. Su curso alto atraviesa zonas donde llueve y nueva mucho. Debido a esto tienen el mayor caudal de España.

The main tributaries of the Ebro are the Segre and the Jalón.
