How does pollution damage the environment?
Pollution is the result of human activities that damage the quality of air, water and land.
• Water pollution is the result of dumping substances such as plastics, industrial waste or toxic microbes into the water system.
• Soil pollution is the result of dumping toxic substances and industrial waste into the ground. All life is affected by soil pollution.
• Air pollution is the result of toxic gases in the air, like carbon monoxide. It is caused by industry and modern transportation and heating systems.
Other types of pollution don’t directly impact th environment but can affect our lives negatively.
• Noise pollution is caused by sounds of over 70 decibels. It can cause deafness and sleep problems. It can also cause stress.
