Beans in a bag!

Do different seeds grow in the same way?

ENGLISH:

Hi I’m Matthew! Today on Experiment Time we are going to look at how different seeds grow at different speeds! Oh, that rhymes!   

Here we have some different seeds, they’re all dried beans. Look! Can you see? They are all different types.   

Now, we need to find somewhere to put the beans, so they can grow. They need water, air and light.  

This bag will do!  It’s nice and strong. Now, we need to put in the bag a piece of paper absorbent but strong. Put a staple for each bean, just like this. 

I’ve already put the stables in. Now, we need to get the beans in, with spaces between each other.  

Like this! 

There we are, all four beans. Now, we need to give them some water. 

There we go. 

Now, we need to hang the bag up on a wall with tape on both sides, like this, to see what happens inside it. We need to leave it like this for a few days. 

What do you think is gonna to happen? Let’s find out! 

Look! The beans have started sending out what we call shoots, these are the things which show us when a new plant is growing!  

Are some growing faster than others?  Yes! Look! This one is growing really fast, but this two, no so much. 

So, what’s our conclusion?  Different seeds grow at different speeds!

Hola, soy Matthew ¡Hoy, en Experiment Time, vamos a ver cómo crecen las diferentes semillas a diferentes velocidades! 

Aquí tenemos algunos tipos de semillas, todas son judías u habichuelas secas (legumbres). ¡Mira! ¿Puedes ver? Son todas de diferentes tipos.

Ahora, tenemos que encontrar un lugar para poner las legumbres, para que puedan crecer. Necesitan agua, aire y luz.

¡Esta bolsa servirá! Es adecuada y fuerte. Ahora, tenemos que poner en la bolsa un papel absorben pero fuerte. Coloca una grapa para cada legumbre. Así como ves.

Ya puse las grapas. Ahora, tenemos que meter las legumbres, con espacios entre ellos.

¡Me encanta todo esto!

Ahí estamos, las cuatro legumbres. Ahora tenemos que darles un poco de agua.

Allá vamos.

Ahora, tenemos que colgar la bolsa en una pared con cinta adhesiva en ambos lados, así, para ver qué sucede dentro de ella. Tenemos que dejar la bolsa así durante unos días.

¿Qué crees que va a pasar? ¡Vamos a averiguarlo!

¡Mira! ¡Las legumbres han comenzado a sacar lo que llamamos brotes, estas son las cosas que nos muestran cuando una planta está creciendo.

¿Algunos brotes crecen más rápido que otros? ¡Sí! ¡Mira! Este está creciendo muy rápido, pero estos dos, no tanto.

Entonces ¿cuál es nuestra conclusión? ¡Diferentes semillas crecen a diferentes velocidades!.
