Some plants have flowers. Their reproductive organs are inside the flower. Flowers can look different but all flowers have the same parts.

SPANISH: Algunas plantas tienen flores. Sus órganos reproductores se encuentran dentro de la flor. Las flores pueden parecer diferentes pero todas tienen las mismas partes.

COROLLA/COROLA

The corola is made of different petals. Petals are different colours to attract insects. 

SPANISH: La corola está hecha de pétalos. Los pétalos tienen diferentes colores para atraer insectos.

CALYX/CÁLIZ

The calys is made of sepals. Sepals are green. They protect the flower. 

SPANISH: El cáliz está hecho de sépalos. Los sépalos son verdes. Ellos protegen la flor.

PISTIL/PISTILO

The pistil is the female reproductive organ. It has ovules inside. 

SPANISH: El pistilo es la parte reproductora femenina. Tiene óvulos por dentro.

STAMEN/ESTAMBRE

The stamen are the male reproductive organs. They have pollen at the top. 

SPANISH: Los estambres son parte reproductora masculina. Tiene polen por encima.
